PennDOT has announced yet another highway project that is scheduled to begin on Monday (April 1).
The $1.8-million project will include replacing the center deck of the Route 8 bridge that runs over Interstate 80 in the Barkeyville area, milling and patching the surface of the bridge, and adding a waterproof membrane.
Experts have declared the 48 year-old span “structurally deficient.”
Plans are for the work to be done by the end of September. The bridge will remain open during the project, but both Route 8 and Interstate 80 will, at times, be reduced to one-lane traffic in both directions.
