Tiger Woods won his 8th PGA tournament at Bay Hill in Orlando on Monday, capturing the rain-delayed Arnold Palmer Invitational by two strokes over Justin Rose, and catapulting back to the number-one position in the World Golf Rankings.
After playing just two holes of the final round on Sunday because of an inch-and-a-half rainstorm, wind gusts of 62 miles per hour and an accompanying tornado warning, Woods closed his final round on Monday at 2-under-par 70, clinching his 77th Tour victory, and winning $1.116 million.
His four-day total was 13-under-par 275.
Woods last topped the world rankings in October, 2010. He had slipped to as low as #58. Bay Hill was his third victory this year, and his sixth win dating back to the same tournament one year ago.
Rose closed at -11. Rickie Fowler, Keegan Bradley, Mark Wilson and Gonzalo Fernandez-Costano tied for third place at -8.
