The latest blast of winter missed the Oil Region by just a matter of miles.

A storm which roared into the southern half of Pennsylvania dumped up to a foot of accumulation in the higher elevations with most other affected areas receiving about four to six inches.

Snow accumulation was reported as close to our region as central Butler County and southern Mercer County.

In Pittsburgh, all schools were closed, and at least 4,000 people were reported to be without electric power.

Meanwhile, many of these same areas are expecting to see temperatures of around 50 degrees by Saturday.
