Mark Wiebe finished the fifth hole of a playoff at the Senior British Open with a par putt, while 2010 champion Bernhard Langer bogeyed, and Wiebe won the tournament for the first time in the only year in the 27-year history of the event that play finished on Monday.
The playoff was on after Langer double-bogeyed the final hole of regulation on Sunday, but only two extra holes could be managed before darkness forced the suspension of play. The playoff resumed Monday at 8:00 AM at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England.
Wiebe shot a 4-under-par 66 on in his final round on Sunday to tie Langer, who played even par, at 9-under-par 271. Corey Pavin, David Frost and Peter Senior all closed three shots behind at -6.
