Water In Franklin’s Third Ward Approved For Bathing And Washing Clothes

February 13, 2018
By

City officials in Franklin have given the go-ahead for residents in much of the city’s Third Ward to once again use city water for bathing and for washing clothes.

A subsequent notice will be given when it is deemed that the water is safe for drinking.

The city now blames high levels of fluoride for the discoloration of the water and for changes in its taste and smell which led to an announcement last week for residents of the Third Ward from Orchard Street and west to discontinue their use of city water.

In the interim, bottled water has been provided by the city.  Water lines were flushed and water samples were sent to a laboratory for testing.

The city stresses water lines should all be tapped and drained before any use, once a resident resumes using the water system.
