State Police were withholding the name of a Warren, Ohio man who was killed in a chain-reaction collision on Interstate 80, pending the notification of the victim’s relatives.
Troopers say it appears the 54 year-old victim may have initiated the series of crashes.
At least three of the four vehicles involved in the chain reaction were tractor-trailers. One trooper identified all four as commercial vehicles.
There was no early word as to any injuries sustained by the other three drivers.
The collisions occurred at about 6:30 PM Thursday on the eastbound lanes of I-80 between the Clintonville and St. Petersburg/Emlenton exits. Both eastbound lanes were closed for about three hours, and single-lane traffic was then maintained until about 1:00 AM. Vehicles was re-routed through Venango County via Route 8, and then back to Interstate 80.
More details and the victim’s name should be released later today.
