The Federal Emergency Management Agency has confirmed that Venango and Crawford Counties are on a list of ten counties which have been approved for federal disaster aid to cover recovery efforts from severe storms in late June and early July.

In Venango County, damage estimates had been listed at more than $900,000, and 14 municipalities, including Oil City, submitted damage reports in applying for the aid.

The funding will aid recovery efforts from drenching rains, hailstorms, flooding, and in some cases, tornadoes.

Other counties that FEMA says have qualified for the federal aid include Lawrence, Jefferson, Clearfield, Clinton, Centre, Huntingdon, Fayette and Wayne Counties.
