The new bishop of the Erie Catholic Diocese will visit Oil City on Saturday as Venango Catholic High School observes its 50th anniversary.

Bishop Donald Persico will officiate a mass at 4:30 PM as part of a full afternoon of activities.  Events, including “open house activities,” will begin at 2:00 PM.  A reception will follow the bishop’s mass.

Venango Catholic opened in September, 1962 as Venango Christian High School, and succeeding St. Joseph High School.  The name change to Venango Catholic High School was made in 2001.
