District 9 basketball tournament officials have acquiesced to followers of both Venango Catholic and Keystone High School basketball, and have moved Wednesday night’s girls class “A” semifinal game between the Lady Vikings (19-4) and the Lady Panthers (17-7) to Cranberry High School.
The game will start at 7:00 PM.
The contest had originally been slated for 6:00 PM as the early half of a doubleheader at Kane High School, preceding the game between top-seeded Port Allegany (22-0) and Clarion (18-5), but many basketball fans from Venango and Clarion Counties questioned why the local teams should be forced to travel such a distance for the sake of playing two games at one location. The Port Allegany-Clarion game, still scheduled for Kane High School, will now also start at 7:00 PM.
Radio coverage of the Venango Catholic-Keystone showdown will begin on 96.3 KQW at 6:30 PM Wednesday. Tim Shaw and Larry “Skeeter” Holly will call the contest. The Port-Allegany-Clarion game may be heard on C-93 Radio (92.7).
Meanwhile, Tuesday night’s playoff game on 96.3 KQW will be the District 10 boys “AAA” semifinal clash between Oil City (18-4) and Erie East (19-4) from Edinboro University’s McComb Fieldhouse. Dave Hildebrand and Joe Lodanosky will call the game at 8:30 PM. Tim Shaw’s pregame show will start at 8:00 PM.
