State Police officials say a Union City woman was arraigned on drug charges, for fleeing police, for driving under the influence and on multiple traffic violations after a weekend police chase on Interstate 79.

Troopers assigned to the Mercer County station in Jackson Center say 25 year-old Ashley Dumas was already traveling at a speed of 83 miles per hour when they attempted to pull her over on Saturday afternoon.  The troopers say Dumas attempted to elude them through the course of a chase that lasted for about 24 miles, and eventually crashed.

Police say they found several bags of suspected heroin and numerous prescription medications in Dumas’s vehicle.

An investigation into the origins of the chase and the items seized from Dumas continues.
