The National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday that a tornado touched down near downtown Union City in Erie County on Tuesday evening.
The touchdown occurred along South Main Street near the intersection with South Street shortly after 8:00 PM Tuesday, and about 20 minutes after a possible tornado had been reported near Waterford. Tornado warnings were additionally issued later Tuesday evening for Warren and McKean Counties.
At least two houses and a mobile home in Union City were damaged by tornado winds. Several other houses received damage from falling trees.
The damage in Warren and McKean Counties was reportedly mostly due to falling trees and flooding.
One death was reported in Crawford County during the Tuesday evening storms. An Adamsville man, identified as Roger Miller, died when his motorcycle slammed into a fallen tree shortly after 9:00 PM in East Fallowfield Township.
