Unemployment remained about steady in Venango County in October, and dropped in surrounding counties.
In numbers released late last week by the Department of Labor, the Venango County jobless rate for October was listed at 8.2 percent. About 22-hundred Venango County residents were without work during the month.
In Clarion County, unemployment slipped from 9.2 percent in September to 9.1. Crawford County’s jobless number slid from 7.7 percent to 7.5. In Forest County, unemployment in October was listed at 8.8 percent, down from 9.3 percent in September and 10.7 in August.
Unemployment in Mercer County in October was measured at 8.2 percent, down from 8.8. And, Warren County’s jobless figure was 6.8 percent, down from 7.1 percent in September.
The revised state unemployment number for October was 8.1 percent, and the national figure was 7.9 percent.
