Connecticut won a record-tying eighth NCAA women’s college basketball tournament title on Tuesday night, routing Louisville 93-60.
The Huskies (35-4) tied Tennessee for most women’s championships.
UConn coach Gene Auriemma’s team was led by freshman Breanna Stewart with 23 points.
Louisville finished the year as national runners-up just one night after the school’s men’s team had captured the national title with a 82-76 win over Michigan. Connecticut remains the only school to win the men’s and women’s championships in the same year, doing so in 2004.
