Two Homes Destroyed By Midweek Fires

November 29, 2013

Two homes in Venango County were destroyed by fires during the snowstorms that hit the area just before the Thanksgiving holiday.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

Firefighters from six companies were called early Tuesday afternoon to a blaze on Kraft Hill Road near Utica which left a family of six homeless.  The fire was discovered by a passing motorist.  The first responders were on the scene for about three-and-a-half hours.  Firefighters from Utica and Polk returned to the scene early Tuesday evening after the blaze rekindled.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A President Township woman who lived alone was able to safely escape a fire which destroyed her home on President Village Road early Wednesday morning.  This fire is believed to have started in an electrical fixture in a closet.

Four fire companies were called to the fire shortly before 12:30 AM, and were on the scene for about five hours.
