Officials say downed power lines were responsible for electrical outages and power glitches in both Oil City and Franklin around midday Tuesday, and the situation may have led to a fire to which two fire departments responded at about the same time.
Explosions in one or more electrical transformers compounded the problems. The entire situation may have been caused by strong winds that blew through the area shortly after noon Tuesday.
Oil City and Cornplanter Fire Department officials responded to the fire which was located on the hillside behind North Seneca Street in Oil City. Firefighters were on the scene for about 80 minutes.
