Tuesday Night Is First Night In Oil City

December 31, 2013

A pair of fireworks displays, bonfires, children’s events, a drum circle and plenty of music and other entertainment will be featured Tuesday night as First Night Oil City is observed, marking the New Years Eve transition into the first day of 2014.

The event is being billed as a family-oriented non-alcoholic celebration.

Activities will begin as early as 5:30 PM with hat making and craft-making.  A Fanfare People’s Procession at 6:45 PM will commence at the National Transit Building and wind its way to Justus Park.  The first fireworks display is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Musical entertainment will run the gamut of musical styles, including gospel, blues, bluegrass, show tunes, classical, numerous keyboard and organ stylings, fiddle and string-band, country, big band, Indie and original compositions.

Other entertainment will include puppets, magic, clowns and balloon artists.

Shuttle bus service will run from 5:30 PM until 12:30 AM.

The purchase of a $10 button will allow admission to any or all of the seventeen indoor First Night Oil City events.  The buttons are available at the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce, the Oil City Library and several area businesses.
