Truex Wins At Sonoma

Martin Truex, Jr. won his first NASCAR Sprint Cup race since 2007 on Sunday, capturing the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway in California.

Truex’s only previous Sprint Cup victory came six years ago at Dover.

Truex led by six seconds over Juan Pablo Montoya when Montoya’s car ran out of fuel on the final lap.  Montoya fell back to 34th place.  Jeff Gordon finished second, and Carl Edwards was third.  Points standings leader Jimmie Johnson finished ninth, and his lead over Edwards slipped to 25 points.
