U.S. Senator Pat Toomey, from Pennsylvania, has introduced an amendment in Washington that would repeal ethanol mandates for gasoline.

Toomey said it is time to end the mandates contained in the Renewable Fuel Standard Law passed in 2005.  The law requires refiners to blend increasing amounts of biofuels, namely corn ethanol, into the nation’s gasoline supplies.

Toomey says pro-environment arguments in favor of ethanol have proven to be false.
