A Titusville woman is headed to court to face charges in a case in which she is accused of creating a Facebook account in another woman’s name, and of using the site to defame the other woman and harass her own mother.
On Wednesday, in Venango County Court, 28 year-old Jessica Kelly waived a hearing on charges that include identity theft, stalking and harassment by communication.
The investigation was started by the Oil City Police Department. Officials say they have collected more than 100 pages of evidence from Facebook activity that occurred between November, 2012 and April of this year.
Police officials say the crime of identity theft covers not only the use of someone’s identity for financial gain, but can cover other offenses, as well.
