Titusville Man Shot By Police After August Pursuit Is Charged In Four Different Cases

December 12, 2017

A Titusville man who was shot and Tasered by police following a ten-mile pursuit in August was arraigned Monday on a litany of charges in four different cases, including the police chase.

Charges against 30 year-old Timothy McGarvie include theft, arson, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fleeing or eluding police, reckless endangerment and many others.

Police officials say McGarvie was already wanted in two stolen vehicle cases and for stealing firearms when he refused to submit to an August 24 traffic stop and led officers on a chase through many rural areas of southern Crawford County, including Rome Township.  The chase ended when McGarvie crashed into a tree.

Police say McGarvie fled on foot to his daughters’s home in Titusville.  Officials attempted to arrest him there, and say he resisted arrest, putting a gun to his own head.  One state trooper shot McGarvie in the arm, and another used a Taser on him.

On Monday following his arraignment, McGarvie was transported to the Crawford County Jail with bail set at $25,000.
