A Titusville man has been charged, and two other suspects are being investigated in the thefts and resale of some fourteen guns taken from the man’s father, who reportedly is a Titusville City Police officer.

Police say 25 year-old Ruel Root IV had been arraigned on 35 charges, including multiple counts of  theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft by deception.

The weapons, including handguns, rifles and shotguns, were reportedly taken over a period of several months, and were allegedly sold by two of Root’s acquaintances.  The names of the other suspects have not been released, pending the completion of a State Police investigation.

Officials in Crawford County say Root waived his preliminary hearing on Tuesday, and was lodged in the county jail on $75,000 bail.
