A Titusville-area man was charged Thursday after he allegedly tried to rob a woman in the parking lot of a Titusville supermarket at about 7:30 AM Thursday morning.
21 year-old Tyler Smith is accused of demanding money from a woman sitting in her car at a store on South Martin Street. When the woman refused, Smith allegedly hit her with a stick through the open window of her car.
Police say Smith fled the scene when other shoppers tried to help the woman. He was arrested shortly afterwards, and was charged with two counts of robbery, one count of theft and one count of simple assault.
The victim told investigators she was not injured in the incident.
Smith was sent to the Crawford County Jail with bond set at $100,000.
