Game officials say two tickets were sold — one in Georgia and one in California — that contain all of the numbers drawn Tuesday night in the MegaMillions Lottery.
The holders of the tickets will split a jackpot estimated at $636 million, the second-largest lottery jackpot in United States history. The record was set with a $656 million prize in a MegaMillions drawing in March, 2012.
The winning numbers were 8, 14, 17, 20 and 39 with a Mega Ball number of 7. Reportedly, there are 259 million possible number combinations in the MegaMillions game.
Pennsylvania Lottery officials say one ticket sold in this state contained four of the first five numbers drawn, plus the Mega Ball number, and was purchased with the extra dollar Megaplier option. It is worth $20,000, since the Megaplier multiplier number was 4. Twenty other such tickets were sold in Pennsylvania without the Megaplier option. Each is worth $5,000.
The MegaMillions annuity jackpot for Friday is being reset at $15 million with a one-time cash prize value set at $8 million. Meanwhile, the estimated annuity value of Wednesday night’s Powerball Lottery jackpot has been posted at $50 million with a cash prize value estimated at $27.7 million.
