Three men from the Philadelphia area who were wanted by Meadville-area police and a state drug task force were arrested outside of Cochranton over the weekend after allegedly trying to elude a police cruiser on Interstate 79 and eventually crashing their vehicle at the Cochranton-Geneva exit ramp.

Police say they apprehended the three men at a convenience store/gas station at the exit following a brief foot chase.

Arrested were the driver, 34 year-old Alford Jones, as well as 45 year-old Jeffrey Waters and 37 year-old Matthew Gindhart.  The three had been wanted by Vernon Township Police and the state Attorney General’s Drug Task Force on charges related to the forgery of drug prescriptions.

The three men were initially being processed through Crawford County law enforcement officials.
