State Police officials have released details of a one-vehicle crash that occurred in Sandycreek Township on Friday afternoon.

Troopers tell KQW that three people were injured, two seriously, in the incident on Pittsburgh Road south of Franklin.

Accident investigators say the driver, 74 year-old Ronald Christy, from Warren, fell asleep at the wheel and his car slammed into a set of guardrails at a curve in the road.

Christy received only minor injuries, but two passengers, 72 year-old Colleen Christy, from Warren, and 78 year-old Mary Steinke, from Plant City, Florida, both sustained injuries that required their transportation to UPMC Northwest in Cranberry.  Troopers described the women’s injuries as “moderate.”
