Three people were taken to regional hospitals Friday night following a two-vehicle accident on Fauncetown Road in Troy Township in southern Crawford County.
Investigating State Police troopers say the incident occurred around 11:00 PM when an S-U-V driven by 49 year-old Jeffrey Finch, from Townville, crossed the highway and slammed head-on into a parked truck facing the opposite direction. The truck, hauling a log splitter, had apparently been stopped because of mechanical issues, and its occupants has left the vehicle to check out the problem.
Police say the impact of the crash knocked Finch’s S-U-V onto its side in the middle of the road. Finch was ejected from his vehicle, and landed on the pavement.
Meanwhile, the truck-log splitter combination was pushed backward about ninety feet, and struck both the truck’s driver, 56 year-old Phillip Young, from Guys Mills, and a 17 year-old boy whose identity investigators did not release.
Finch and the teenager were both flown to an Erie hospital. Young was hospitalized in Meadville. Police reports listed Finch’s injuries as “major,” and the injuries sustained by Young and his passenger as “moderate.”
