Franklin City Police have brought to our attention an ongoing scam in which local residents are receiving messages informing them that their credit or debit cards have been suspended.

The messages indicate that the recipients are required to call a phone number and leave their card numbers in order to have their cards reactivated.  The phone numbers are alleged to be connected with the recipients’ banks or credit card companies, but they are not.

Recipients of such text messages are advised to alert their financial institutions, delete the text messages and refrain from calling the numbers they are provided.
