Texas Brothers Sentenced In Marijuana Import Operation

Two brothers from Texas have been sentenced in Crawford County Court to state prison terms for masterminding an operation that transported marijuana from Texas to western Pennsylvania several times a year.

29 year-old Miguel Rodriguez, from Corpus Christi, was sentenced to 4-to-8 years, and his twin brother, Marcelino Rodriguez, from Eddy, Texas, was handed down a 3-to-5 year prison term on Monday.  The brothers are among nine people charged in the operation which was said to have imported as much as twenty pounds of marijuana each month.

Both brothers had entered guilty pleas, and both have been given credit for approximately six months of jail time already served.

The men’s sister, 30 year-old Laura Rodriguez, from Chilton, Texas, and another woman, 25 year-old Pamela Barrientos, from Eddy, are already serving terms in the Crawford County Jail following their guilty pleas on conspiracy charges.

Five northwestern Pennsylvania residents have cases that are continuing in the Crawford County court system.
