Police in Pittsburgh say they have a suspect in the shooting death last weekend of a former Slippery Rock University student and football player.
Investigators say 22 year-old Isaiah Smith, from Pittsburgh’s Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood, turned himself in to authorities on Monday, and was charged in the death of 25 year-old Zachary Sheridan, from Brookline. Sheridan was shot while trying to flee from a fight at an Oakland hot dog shop at about 3:30 AM Saturday morning. He died moments later at a Pittsburgh hospital.
Charges against Smith include criminal homicide. He also faces counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Sheridan started for three seasons at Slippery Rock, and graduated from the Butler County school in 2011.
