Two different surveys released this week reveal that Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett is the highest-paid of all of the nation’s governors.
In Pennsylvania, the governor’s salary for this year is set at $187,256, although an administration spokesman, Dan Egan, is quick to point out that Corbett has turned down three straight raises, and will actually make just under $175,000.
A survey released by the Kentucky-based Council of State Governments says that Pennsylvania’s governor’s salary is the highest in the country. Information released from a survey conducted by the California Compensation Commission confirms that fact. The commission did their research in preparation for their meeting to decide on the California governor’s compensation.
A 1995 Pennsylvania law gives our governor automatic cost-of-living salary increases tied to inflation. The Kentucky survey based its rankings on the 2012 Pennsylvania governor’s salary, listed at $183,255.
