Study Looks At Minimum Wage Hike In Pennsylvania

February 15, 2016
By

Those seeking an increase in Pennsylvania’s minimum wage say they now have proof of the benefits that could come from such a move.

A study by the Keystone Research Center estimates that a minimum wage hike would result in an additional $121.5 million through increased sales and income tax revenue, as well as $104 million in Medicaid savings.

State Senator Christine Tartaglione is the sponsor of a bill to raise the state’s minimum wage all the way to $10.10 an hour.  She brought the results of the new study to Radio PA News.  Pennsylvania’s minimum wage currently stands at $7.25 an hour.
