The Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday matched the one-year offer sheet tendered to unrestricted free agent wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders by the New England Patriots, and Sanders will remain with the Steelers for the 2013 season.
The Patriots’ offer was reportedly for $2.5 million.
Sanders may still become an unrestricted free agent after the 2013 season. The Steelers had until 11:59 PM Sunday to match the New England offer.
Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals are reportedly attempting to finalize a deal with former Steelers linebacker James Harrison. The 34 year-old Harrison was released by Pittsburgh last month, and visited Cincinnati last week.
