Steelers Earn Playoff Bye With 34-6 Victory At Houston

The Pittsburgh Steelers earned a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs and a home field berth in the conference semifinals by beating the Texans 34-6 in Houston on Christmas Day.

Ben Roethlisberger threw for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Le’Veon Bell and Roosevelt Nix both scored on touchdown runs.  JuJu Smith-Schuster and Justin Hunter were on the receiving ends of the TD passes, and Chris Boswell kicked two field goals.

Roethlisberger completed 20-of-29 passes with no interceptions.  Smith-Schuster made six receptions for 75 yards, while Bell had five catches for 28 yards and carried the ball 14 times for another 69 yards.

The win means the Steelers (12-3) have earned at least the #2-seed in the AFC.  They can pull out the #1-seed with a victory at home in their regular season finale versus the winless Cleveland Browns on Sunday, combined with an upset by the New York Jets at New England the same day.

The Texans fell to 4-11.
