State Rep. James Pushes Online Petition To Save Route 8 Four-Lanes

March 8, 2018
By

State Representative Lee James has announced that his website now contains an online petition which will allow residents in his district to give their opinion on plans the state has regarding a stretch of Route 8 between Sandycreek Township and the Barkeyville area.

Although a PennDOT official recently remarked that plans to convert the four-lane stretch back to two lanes may be close to being discarded, there remains some concern among local residents.  A PennDOT study, which should be concluded this spring is, among other things, considering the potential maintenance cost savings by making such a change.

James says public opinion is against the proposal, stating “Route 8 is our area’s connection to the larger marketplace and the local businesses and jobs it sustains,” and that he plans to show the results of his poll to PennDOT officials.

The petition can be accessed at www.RepJames.com and clicking on the “Sign The Route 8 Petition” link.  Those without Internet access may call James’ office in Seneca to add their names to the petition.
