A plan that could get state lawmakers back to doling out education funding based on a specific formula has passed the state House of Representatives, and it is something many school advocates have endorsed for years.
The measure would create a commission to study education funding and recommend a funding formula. Radio PA News reporter Brad Christman says the formula would only apply to any funding increases, and it would be up to the legislature to enact it.
A formula had been in place, but it has not been used since before Governor Tom Corbett entered office.
The measure passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, but not before lawmakers rehashed the ongoing debate over cuts to education.
