The third in a series of state House committee hearings on school safety in Pennsylvania will be held Thursday (June 6) at Slippery Rock University.
The hearing, to be held by the House Select Committee on School Safety and Security, will be conducted from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM in Room 315 of the Smith Student Center on the Slippery Rock campus. Testimony will center around policies to enhance safety in Pennsylvania schools, including colleges and universities.
The committee is expected to hear from school board members, school administrators, police and security experts, in addition to Dr. Peter Garland, the acting chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, and the president of the National Association of School Psychologists, Amy Smith.
The hearing will be streamed live on the websites of some of the committee members, including that of state Representative Gary Day, who represents Berks and Lehigh Counties.
