State Gun Violence Task Force Proposed

One of the state’s highest-ranking senators says he will propose a resolution which would create a state gun violence prevention task force.

Republican Stewart Greenleaf, from Montgomery County, who is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, says the resolution would allow the task force to examine issues dealing with gun violence, including proposals to strengthen firearms regulations, mental health laws and bullying.

Greenleaf said the appointment of a task force is necessary because gun violence prevention is a “multipronged issue.”  His resolution was drawn up in the aftermath of the recent mass elementary school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.
