State Gets Federal Grant To Help Veterans Enter The Teaching Field

Pennsylvania has been awarded a federal grant to help military veterans who want to enter the education field.

The $275,000 grant will be funneled through the state’s Department of Education as part of the federal Troops for Teachers program.  Deputy state Education Secretary Noe Ortega told Radio PA News it is designed to give veterans who want to become teachers the opportunities to successfully make the transition.

Programs will be set up at Slippery Rock and West Chester Universities to benefit the surrounding school districts most in need of teachers. mainly in the areas of math, sciences and foreign languages.
