A Sigel man entered guilty pleas Wednesday in the drug-related death of a Brookville woman whose body was found in her car in southern Clarion County in January.
30 year-old Shawn Carr will be sentenced in August on his pleas to counts of the delivery of drugs resulting in death, delivery of a controlled substance, abuse of a corpse and the criminal use of a communications facility. Carr had been charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Charges of aggravated assault and tampering with evidence were also dismissed in his plea bargain.
Carr was charged in the death of 19 year-old Devan Knapp through administering heroin to the woman at an apartment in Rimersburg. The man who rented the apartment, 32 year-old Joel Stark, also faces charges in the case.
Knapp’s mother reported the victim missing on January 11. Knapp’s body was found in her car in a remote area near Fisher on January 15. Prosecutors claimed Carr drove Knapp’s body to the Fisher scene in her own car, placed her body in the driver’s seat, and placed a syringe in her lap and open bags of heroin near the body.
