A Sharon man who was wanted by police since he allegedly assaulted another man late Saturday night was apprehended Wednesday afternoon in Hubbard Township, Ohio, just outside Sharon.
43 year-old Kyle Cheza, a former star athlete at Hickory High School in nearby Hermitage, stands accused of dragging a 37 year-old Sharon man over a short fence and hitting him in the head with a handgun after he had walked into the man’s yard a few blocks from Cheza’s house at about 11:30 PM Saturday, demanded a beer and was refused. Cheza was a state champion wrestler while in high school.
Police surrounded Cheza’s house on Spencer Avenue in Sharon on Tuesday, believing Cheza had barricaded himself inside. Cheza was not home, and police speculated that he had fled “armed and dangerous.”
Sharon Police say Cheza was apparently camped out in a wooded area near an Interstate 80 truck stop. Cheza was arrested at the truck stop.
He was lodged in the Trumbull County, Ohio jail, and an extradition hearing will be required to bring him back across the Pennsylvania line.
