Seven Penguins Players Chosen For Winter Olympics Hockey Games

In addition to Brooks Orpik and Paul Martin who were announced last week as members of Team USA in the upcoming Sochi (Russia) Winter  Olympics games, five other Pittsburgh Penguins hockey players have been named to national squads for the games’ men’s hockey competition, which will begin on February 13.

Team captain Sidney Crosby and teammate Chris Kunitz were announced Tuesday as picks for Team Canada.  Evgeni Malkin was selected to play for his native Russia.  Veteran Jussi Jokinen and NHL rookie Ollie Maatta will both compete for Finland.

The Sochi Olympics will open on February 6, and there will be women’s hockey competition as early as the first day of the games, but the start of the men’s games will come one week later.
