A church in Cranberry Township has become the latest to report a weekend burglary.
The church, on East State Road in Seneca, was entered sometime Sunday night or early Monday morning, and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. State Police investigators say entry to the building was gained through an unlocked window.
It was not immediately clear whether the incident is related to a rash of other church burglaries, including at least four that were robbed Saturday night, and two others which had been burglarized in recent days. An eighth such incident is reportedly being investigated in Meadville.
The State Police arrested two Oil City-area men in the parking lot of yet another church, this one on Raymilton Road in Frenchcreek Township, before daybreak on Monday, and said they believe the men were involved in several of the burglary incidents. Charged Monday were 31 year-old John Biddle and 31 year-old Steven Kostenbauder. Charges include burglary, conspiracy and theft by unlawful taking.
