A second passenger on a bus that was involved in a collision with a train in southern Butler County on April 26 has died.
Officials say 88 year-old John Burkett, from Zelienople, died Saturday from injuries sustained in the crash at a railroad crossing in Evans City.
Burkett was one of eleven people, including 10 bus passengers, who were taken to area hospitals following an incident in which a Butler Area Rural Transportation bus inexplicably was brought to a stop on a foggy morning on tracks at the crossing. The bus was struck by a freight train and was knocked into a nearby ravine.
The bus driver, 60 year-old Frank Schaffner, from Butler, was also injured. Another elderly passenger, 91 year-old Claudette Miller, from Callery, died on the morning after the crash.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
