Adam Scott sank a 12-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole Sunday and won the 2013 Masters golf tournament, becoming the first Australian golfer to earn the green jacket at Augusta National.
Scott appeared to have the tournament won with a long birdie putt on the 72nd hole, until Angel Cabrera matched the birdie. Both golfers parred the first playoff hole (the 18th) before the competition concluded on the 10th hole.
Scott and Cabrera had tied each other through regulation play at 9-under-par 279, two strokes ahead of Scott’s fellow countryman, Jason Day. Another Australian, Marc Leishman, tied for fourth place at -5 with #1-ranked Tiger Woods. Thorbjorn Olesen, who went from four-over-par at Friday’s cut to -4 at the tourney’s end with back-to-back 68 rounds over the weekend, tied for sixth place with Brandt Snedeker
