Saturday Earmarked For Giveback Of Expired Prescription Drugs

October 25, 2013

National Take Back Day, earmarked for the proper disposal of expired and unused prescription drugs, is scheduled for this Saturday (Oct. 26), but there is a plan to make every day a take back day in Pennsylvania.

Governor Tom Corbett’s Healthy Pennsylvania plan will soon utilize some 250 collection boxes across the state for any-day drop-off.  Administration spokesman Jay Pagni says the easy disposal of medications at the boxes will aid in the removal of prescription drugs from the home, averting the consequences of misuse.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s Take Back hours are scheduled to be 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.  In Venango County, medications may be dropped off during those hours at the Franklin and Sugarcreek Borough Police Departments and at the Franklin station of the Pennsylvania State Police in Cranberry Township.  Other locations can be found on the Drug Enforcement Administration’s website,
