The Franklin Area School Board on Monday hired Ryan Justice as Franklin High School’s new head varsity girls’ basketball coach.

Justice spent last winter as a graduate assistant coach in the men’s basketball program at Clarion University.  He has also served for two seasons as an assistant coach for the boys’ basketball team at North Clarion High School.

Justice attended and played for Northwestern Lehigh High School in Lehigh County, and played football at Susquehanna University before his decision to transfer to Clarion.

At Franklin, he replaces Bill Hager, whose Lady Knights teams went at least to the ‘Sweet Sixteen” round of the PIAA playoffs in each of his seasons as head coach.  Hager previously had served two stints as Franklin’s head boys’ varsity basketball coach, leading the team to a state “AAA” championship in 2001.
