A fire that damaged a home in southeastern Crawford County early Wednesday morning was apparently caused by lightning.
Four fire companies responded to the home of an Amish family of six on Coon Road in Rome Township shortly after 2:30 AM Wednesday. Family members had escaped the fire without injuries.
Firefighters spent nearly four-and-a-half hours on the scene, returning to their headquarters shortly after daybreak.
Officials are now saying it appears that lightning struck a tree, traveled across a clothes line and set fire to the the second story or the attic of the family’s home.
