Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has announced that Ben Roethlisberger will return as the Steelers’ starting quarterback when the team hosts San Diego (4-8) on Sunday at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
Roethlisberger has missed Pittsburgh’s last three games after suffering both a shoulder injury and a dislocated rib. Pittsburgh (7-5) has lost two of those three games, ending a two-game slide with a win over the Ravens in Baltimore last Sunday.
Roehtlisberger practiced both Wednesday and Thursday, and showed enough improvement to prompt Tomlin’s announcement following the Thursday session.
