Forward LaDontae Henton scored 21 points, and guard Bryce Cotton added 20 on Monday night, and the Providence Friars ended the Robert Morris Colonials’ run in the NIT men’s college basketball tournament with a 77-68 victory at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence.
The Friars (19-14) advance to the “elite eight,” and will go on to meet Baylor in the tourney’s Region 1 final.
Guard Vincent Council (12 points) and forward Kadeem Batts (10) also reached double figures for Providence.
Guard Karvel Anderson came off the bench and led the Colonials with 18 points in 26 minutes of playing time. Forward Russell Johnson added 16. Robert Morris finished the year with a 24-11 record.
