Freshman state Representative Lee James, from Oil City and the 64th Legislative District, has been assigned to serve on four state House committees.
Among the assignments is a seat on the House Finance Committee, which vets legislation dealing with taxes and revenue.
James also will sit on the Veterans Affairs and Preparedness Committee, the Local Government Committee and the Human Services Committee.
The new state Representative was elected in November to succeed another Oil City lawmaker, Scott Hutchinson, who was elected to the state Senate. Hutchinson on Monday was beginning his stint as Vice Chairman of the state Senate Finance Committee while that panel was holding a public hearing on the privatization of the Pennsylvania Lottery.
